Comoros is an island nation in the Indian Ocean, lying off the coast of East Africa between northern Mozambique and northern Madagascar. It consists of three main volcanic islands with a tropical marine climate and few natural resources. Major exports include vanilla and ylang ylang – an aromatic oil used in aromatherapy. Many landholdings in Comoros are controlled by and inherited through the female line.
