Ecuador is an Andean country in South America that borders Colombia and Peru. It lies on the equator (hence its name) and has a Pacific Ocean coastline. It is the most bio-diverse country in the world and the Galapagos Islands (part of Ecuador) are famously where Darwin first put together his theories of evolution. Ecuador is the world’s biggest producer of balsa wood – which is used to make wind turbines and model airplanes.
