Kuwait is a prosperous and oil-rich emirate in the Middle East, at the head of the Arabian Gulf. It borders Iraq and Saudi Arabia. Outside of Kuwait City, most of the country consists of flat to undulating desert plains. The word ‘Kuwait’ is derived from “Koot” which is the Arabic word for fortress.
