Paraguay is a landlocked country in South America bordering Argentina, Bolivia, and Brazil. It is rich in natural resources and has part of the world’s largest aquifer of fresh water (the Guarani Aquifer) beneath its soil and is home to part of the Pantanal, the world’s largest freshwater wetland. One of the world’s biggest hydroelectric producer, the Itaipú Dam – is on the border with Brazil. Paraguay is a major exporter of soya beans and beef. It has the largest navy of any landlocked country.
