Togo is located in West Africa and bordered by Ghana, Benin, Burkina Faso and the Gulf of Guinea on the south. It is a long, but narrow country. Its climate is considered tropical, sub-Saharan that depends mainly on agriculture (20% of it cocoa beans) for its subsistence. It is one of the smallest countries in Africa, but its coastal region was a major center for slave trade and was nicknamed “The Slave Coast.” Though most people live in modern day accommodations, the traditional Taberma houses are still used today.
