Turkmenistan is one of the Turkish states found in Central Asia. It is bordered by Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Iran and the Caspian Sea. In medieval times, Turkmenistan was an important stopping point on the “Silk Road” a road used for trade with China.
